Evacuation Slide For Aircrafts
Air Cruisers Patents An Evacuation Slide That Allows Aircraft Passengers To Exit Emergency Situations Safely
Air Cruisers Company, LLC produces inflatable safety equipment for boats, airplanes and the likes. They were recently granted U.S. Patent No. 10,654,575 for an evacuation slide for aircrafts. Evacuation slides are heavily regulated in order to meet all safety requirements set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). They deploy automatically when the emergency door opens, and allow for passengers to safely exit the aircraft. Sometimes the emergency exits and therefore evacuation slides are placed directly above the wing. This means there are more regulations manufacturers have to account for to keep passengers safe. The passengers cannot go directly from the exit onto the slide. Instead, they have to walk on a portion of the wing beforehand, meaning the evacuation slide needs to provide a ramp with rails from the doors to the slide. Such evacuation slides already exist, but Air Cruisers’ patent seeks to improve on previous designs and offer more a more lightweight and compact option.

Air Cruisers’ patented slide conforms to the odd shape of aircraft wings. The ramp allows passengers to transition from the door to the slide. The rails on the ramp part of the slide are installed for passenger safety, to prevent anyone from falling. They need to be sturdy enough to stabilize passengers yet still need to deploy quickly within the set EASA standards. The ramp is made up of multiple tubular structures instead of a singular mattress to help passengers keep balance.
